Weekends hang out

Day 7: Hang out with other exchange volunteers

This is my first weekends in Taoyuan. I was still worrying where to go in weekends few days ago. Fortunately, a volunteer mom in Long An planned a trip for us and drove us around. Today, I got to meet with other international volunteers in Taiwan. We are all from different countries: Korea, Canada, Singapore, Philippine, and Mauritius. we went to BeiPou(北浦) old street, we ate a lot of local foods and snacks. We also ate Hakka's food for lunch. Then, we went to NeiWan (內灣). We played go-kart and also saw a lot fireflies. We were also lucky enough to have a chance to look at a fireflies in a really close distance. It was a really fun day and I am really thankful for the volunteer mom to take us around.

Speech day

Day 4: Speech Day

Today, my partner came to the school from Singapore and we had a presentation about ourselves as well as our own country. All the 2nd grade students came to the auditorium and listen to our presentation. All of them were so curious about us and interested in our countries. They were so quiet and concentrated on our presentations. When it was question time, many of the students put their hands up and ask many different kinds of questions. I am so happy to see that when they take an extra step forward and willing to ask questions in English. At the end of the presentation, they all smiled, gave me high five and said bye when they were leaving the room.

Arrive to Taoyuan

Day 1: arrived to Taoyuan international Airport

I went to Hong Kong from Canada few days before I came to Taiwan. I was excited and looking forward to my journey in Taiwan! After around one and a half hour flight, I arrived to Taoyuan international Airport. My first impression of Taiwan after i arrived is the weather is very hot and the people in Taiwan is really friendly. A student from the organization came and pick me up in the airport. After that, I went to Long An Elementary school and stayed in class 205. The students in 205 are super cute and friendly. They were all very quiet and shy at the beginning, but after i have introduced myself to them, they became more comfortable talking to me in English. I think this is a really good start and it is a really good opportunity for them to have a conversation in English.
